Anton Krupicka our La Sportiva and BUFF® ambassador needs no introduction in the ultra marathon arena. He has had several successful ultra marathon wins under his belt and continues perform his best.
Here are some of the tips to running a successful UTMB or any ultra race:
1. Ultra running involves dealing with long distances while managing sleep depreviation and mastering fuel on the run
2. Learn to walk with the poles. 60-80% of UTMB involves walking on uphill inclines or steep downhills. Poles usage will take the burdant off your legs.
3. Relax on your downhill decent. This greatly reduces your risk of injury and muscle fatigue.
4. Catch up on your sleep. UTMB can last anything from 19 to 46 hours, hence dealing with sleep depreviation is real. So, build up sleep reserves leading to the race.
