Mt Kilimanjaro with Kembara Outdoor Centre

You have the opportunity to participate in our expeditions and enjoy this wonderful experience.

Karibu to Kilimanjaro! The original name of Kilimanjaro is Kilima Njaro in Swahili or Oldoinyo in Masai. With the height of 5895m or 19,340ft, it become the highest mountain in African Continent and become one of the Seven Summits. Kilimanjaro consist of three peaks namely Kibo (5895m), Shira (3,962m) and Mawenzi (5,149m). The first ascent was made by H.Meyer and L.Purtscheller in 1889. Kilimanjaro is non-technical mountain through a various landscape passing rainforest, moorland, rock garden and off course glaciers on top of the mountain. It can be climb all year long although most avoid the rainy season which begin from April to May and the shorter rainy season is mostly in November or beginning of December. But, always be prepared for wet day and cold nights on the mountain together with the wind from Indian Ocean. Enjoy the song and dance from the porters. P      ole...pole!!

 

DAY 1:

After breakfast drive to Machame Gate 1800m.a.s.l. Start the walk from Machame Gate to Machame Hut. The walk takes about 6-7 hours in the rain forest. Lunch along the way, dinner and overnight at Machame Camp (3000m.a.s.l). 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 2:

After breakfast ascend to the Shira camp. The walk takes 4-5 hours in the moorland. Lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight at Shira camp (3840m.a.s.l).

 
DAY 3:

This is the day for acclimatization. After breakfast ascend to the junction of Lava Tower (4600m.a.s.l) then descend to Baranco hut (3950m.a.s.l). Lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight at Baranco camp.

 
DAY 4:

After breakfast ascend the great Baranco wall. It takes about 1 and a half. Then proceed to Karanga Valley (4100) for hot lunch, after lunch proceed with walk to Barafu camp (4600 m.a.s.l) for Dinner and overnight

 

DAY 5:

After midnight breakfast, ascend to the Summit via Stela Point to Uhuru Peak (5895m.a.s.l). After photo taking and short time celebration, descend to Barafu camp for Lunch, then descend to Mweka camp (3200m.a.s.l).Dinner and overnight at Mweka camp.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

DAY 6:

After breakfast descend in the rain forest about 3 hours to Mweka Gate. Then to Moshi for lunch, dinner and overnight at the Hotel 

 

The price for all the programs above include; Training and Equipments consultation, medical consultations, Tents, All park entry fees, All rescue fees, Guides, Assistant guides, Potters, Cook, Food(three meals a day), Transport to and from the Kilimanjaro gates, Transport to and from Nairobi/Kilimanjaro airport, travel insurance, Local English Speaking Guide, Experienced Guide From Kembara Outdoor Centre, Hotel in Moshi (2 days before and night after the trip). 

 

 

The price above does not include the following. Tips to the crew, things of personal uses i.e. alcohol and cigarette, international airfare, extra day on the mountain/town, personal expenditure, extra foods, optional tour to Camping Safari/Visa (if any), vaccination fee.

SAFARI PROGRAM (Optional Tour)

 
DAY 01 

After breakfast, with your lunch box, enroute game drive to Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge. Dinner and Overnight at Seronera Campsite.

 
DAY 02

Early morning, before breakfast, you will have a morning game drive at Serengeti, and then back to the camp for a breakfast. After Breakfast with your Lunch box, proceed with a game drive until the late afternoon, then drive to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite.

 
DAY 03

After breakfast with your lunch box, Game drive at Ngorongoro Crater. In the late afternoon back to Moshi/Arusha for dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

The price includes All Park fees, Camping Fees, Driver Guide and Cook, Food 3 meals a day catering for vegetarian and non vegetarian,Tent,drinking water, Vehicle 4WD Open roof with a proper seats The price above does not include Tip for the Driver and Cook, First Aid Kit and Things of personal use eg Beer,cigarate 

 

Reservation

To make a reservation, you have to fill in the "Kembara Outdoor Centre-Expedition Form" and send to us but it must be noted that the trip will only be confirmed once we receive the deposit of 30% from the total cost. The balance shall be paid 30 days before departure.

 

Once you have sent to us the booking form, we will send you the invoice, equipment checklist form, medical information form and waiver of risk form.

 

Payment can be made by cash, cheques or wire transfer which details will be provided once you have complete and send the booking form to us.

 

Cancellation

If cancelling  a reservation, once the required deposit has been processed, Kembara Outdoor Centre will maintain credit for 1 year. After this period, the validity of this credit will expire. You will have the possibility to get this credit only if you let us know 30 days before the starting date of the expedition.
