"There is a need to get more members and the MKS committee has decided to increase the numbers of trips to attract more people to join and stay with MKS. At the same time, the objective of the trips are to help raise awareness among members and non-members regarding the importance of our cave and karst. We hope to have at least four trips a year to this end." - President's message (July 2009) -
The Malaysian Karst Society (www.mykarst.org) in association with the MNS northern cave group is organizing a three day caving and durian makan trip to Kota Gelangi and Tekam Resort near Jerantut, Pahang.
We plan to arrive at Tekam Resort on Saturday morning and start exploring the caves that afternoon and leave for home on Sunday. The durian makan feast is all you can eat but cannot ta-pau. Hopefully we can still fit in the caves after this feast.
Details of the trip is as follows.
Date : Saturday 8 august till monday 10 august, 2009
Accommodation : 6 man tent at RM25 per tent per night, or hostels at RM20 per person
Makan : own expense (at Tekam or elsewhere)
Transport : car pool
Kota Gelangi is a large limestone outcrop with many caves. Most are dry and houses many beautiful formations. Definitely worth a visit. Open to MKS and MNS members. Non-members have to join either MKS or MNS upon booking. Space limited.
