Standing at 150cm, Dee Lu knows there is much to gain from lighter packs and better equipment when it comes to keeping up with trekking mates with longer legs, bigger muscles, and larger lungs.
Weight planning packs and carrying essential gear helps to keep the trip efficient and less stressful. A former queens guide, she believes in the motto "Be Prepared".
Dee Lu graduated with honors in International Business & Marketing from USA. She gained precious retail knowledge while working with companies such as Nine West Inc., Electrolux, and Hewlett Packard in USA and Malaysia. In 2001, she joined Nomad Adventure, a pioneering adventure company specializing in rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and adventure racing.
Over the past four years, she has interacted and absorbed invaluable information from hundreds of rock climbers, adventure racers, weekend warriors, adventure travelers, kayakers, as well as gear manufacturers, distributors, retailers, adventure operators, guides, instructors, and sales personnel from all over the world. This privilege, coupled with her own experiments and experiences, convinced her that people need information to make informed choices that might be critical in saving their lives or simply their holiday plans.
A backpacker, Dee Lu has traveled up and down the east and west coast of America, as well as driven across the continent twice. She has traveled and climbed in the Swiss Alps, Joshua Tree, Thailand and Malaysia. Qualified in Basic First Aid and CPR by the American Red Cross and certified by the Australian Canoe Federation in Whitewater Safety & Rescue, Dee Lu also guides kayak and rafting trips locally. As a climbing guide and ropes instructor, she conducted training programs for technical marshals on rope safety and rigging for adventure races. She was also the chief accident & emergency operations coordinator for many programs and international races held locally.
Her current aim in life is to provide an educational hub for outdoor enthusiasts.
